Don't come to Hawaii in March...

(while looking through my blog drafts I found this memory and thought I would post it even though it is about 4 months later!)

or just bring rain boots!
For the first 10 days of march it rained. The main land translation: It POURED/FLOODED for the first 10 days of March.

So what happens when it rains faster than the draining system can drain... The WHOLE Hale looks like this:

At 5:30 am I got a call from my RA that hale 5 was about to flood... 20 minutes later and so many failed attempts to stop the water from entering the rooms we were about a good foot deep in rain!
I am seriously grateful for all the wonderful selfless people that came to help! I had a little proud moment as I looked around and saw hundreds of my residents, RA's, and Coworkers helping with a smile. I am grateful for those who stayed hours after cleaning hallways, bedrooms, picking up trash and debris. I am so moved by everyone's helpful hearts!
I am also very grateful for my pink rain boots, Nice warm showers, and my comfy bed after an 11 hour day!
