I thought I had learned how to have faith.
WRONG.
I have realized in the handful of months living here that there will always be more to learn about having faith.
So the story that this post is about?
Well once upon a time there was a girl named Alicia looking for a full time job to support her husband through school. She thought it was going to be easy peasy to find a job. Well let me just tell you she couldn't have been more wrong. One month went by... and two months went by. She managed to find a part time job at Kahuku Elementary but it was not enough to make the ends meet. The savings they had been blessed to earn started to get closer and closer to zero. Everyday Alicia and her husband prayed for employment.
Then one day Alicia got a call. A call about another job! It wasn't just any job though, It was Turtle Bay they wanted Alicia to be an Assistant Manager in the clothing store! It was full time, great hours, great pay... what more could they want? Alicia went to her interview, the manager loved her and told her she had the job and she would call her on Wednesday to get started. On Wednesday the manager called and said they had decided it would be more economical to hire from inside the company for the assistant manager position but would still love to hire Alicia. Alicia was a little disappointed but took the job, at least they still offered her one!
That Friday was to be Alicia's first day. Thursday the manger called and said she was ill so Alicia would start on Monday. Monday Alicia went to work ready to start her job. The manager informed Alicia that she the manager, had not filed Alicia's paperwork correctly so Alicia needed to come back on Wednesday to start her job. Alicia went home feeling frustrated. Not only because she couldn't start working but they informed her that she would HAVE to work on Sundays because she was a regular employee.
Alicia cried. Alicia and Rick prayed and fasted about what to do. They decided that Alicia should decline the job. Sounds silly right? They had been praying to find another job right? But everything about it felt completely wrong. So Alicia took a few steps into the darkness and called to say she couldn't except the position. As soon as Alicia hung up the phone she knew exactly what to do!
Tune in tomorrow to hear what happens next :)

If there is one thing I know about faith it's that it can't grow when it's not being tested. That means if everything is peachy, then enjoy it, because peachy only lasts a moment. Life is hard most of the time... faith is hard most of the time, be divine design.
ReplyDeleteBut on the bright side faith and joy co-exist very nicely :)
